  1. Update on National ITLS Activities

  3. Dr. Gianas reviewed National ITLS Topics, including the new Patient Assessment DVD. Shooting for the DVD wrapped earlier this week. The project is still in production and is looking at 3-4 month timeline for completion with a release prior to National Conference.ITLS International is working with Brady Publishing to put parts of ITLS courses online. Individuals would be able to do a portion of the course web based, and do skills at a training center. A certificate would be issued by the online system once all training was completed that would allow the individual to participate in the skills portion and to take tests. ITLS International will be focusing Distance Learning opportunities. The first online system should be available next 6-9 months. Due to the new Course Management System students will now receive CECBEMS Credit for ITLS courses. A different set of information is now required of the students including, license number, type, and expiration date.The International Trauma Conference will be in Mexico this year. Flights may be more expensive, and individuals will be required to have their passport. Dr. Gianas will be up for re-election again, so it is imperative to encourage our delegates to attend. The Conference will be listed in the next ITLS of Florida e-news with an early call for delegates and competition team members.The new CMS program was reviewed, and course coordinator manuals were distributed. Each Affiliate Faculty was asked to complete a Faculty Data form and return it to the ITLS of Florida office and to forward on to instructors/course coordinators in their area.

The Financial Report was Reviewed and Accepted


2008 Proposed Budget

The 2008 Budget was reviewed with the following questions/changes:

~Expense 8040 – Filing Fee: $150.00

-The ITLS contract states that all accounting is included in the management fee. Delaina will clarify what this filing fee is specifically for.


~Expense 8090 – National Fees: Proposed Budget- $18,000.00

-Motion to increase the National Fees to $20,000.00 due to 2008 being a recert. year.

~Expense 8100 - National Meeting: Proposed Budget- $4,000.00

-Motion to increase funds to $6,000.00 to help alleviate the increased cost of traveling to Mexico for the National Meeting.

Motion Accepted


~Expense 8120 – Office Supplies: proposed budget $200.00

-Motion to strike office supplies from the budget as the should be included in the Management contract with EMLRC.

Motion Accepted


~Expense 8130 – ITLS Merchandise Expense: Proposed Budget- None

-Motion to add a $250 budget to the ITLS Merchandise Expense for purchase of stock items for exhibits/trade show opportunities.

Motion Accepted


~Expense 8200 – Sponsorship: Proposed Budget $1,000.00

-The EMLRC is requesting a donation to the Capital Campaign fund to help build the new EMLRC building. The Florida Association of EMS Medical Directors is giving $2,000.00 a year for 5 years for a total of $10,000.00. The EMLRC would like a similar commitment from ITLS.

-Motion to decline any commitment for donations to EMLRC at this time. This is a transition year for ITLS and it would be wise to with hold any major fiscal changes.

Motion Accepted

-It may be possible to hold ITLS classes at the EMLRC office and donate the proceeds to the capital campaign. This would be a way for ITLS to support EMLRC without make a strict commitment.

-Dr. Gianas has offered to speak to the EMLRC about this option.

-Motion to explore the option of holding classes to support EMLRC further.

--ITLS of Florida is interested in possible exhibiting at the 2009 Fire Rescue East Conference.  It was discussed that the best way to get our foot in the door for exhibitor/sponsorship opportunities is to support the FFA with a $400-$500 donation to the 2008 conference.

Motion to support the Florida Fire Chiefs Association through a donation to Fire Rescue East 2008.

Motion to increase the sponsorship budget to $1,500.00

~Expense 8900 – Accounting: Proposed Budget - $2,200.00

-Accounting should be included in management fee as outlined in the EMLRC Management Agreement. Delaina will research why there is a separate charge for this accounting fee, and why it was increased from $1,400.00 to $2,200.00 year over year.

Motion for the 2008 proposed budget to the approved with the above mentioned changes, and for the executive committee to be able to approve the final budget, making any changes as needed for the good of the organization.

  1. Approval of upcoming courses

Professional Safety Educators is planning to hold a provider course March 4th and 5th and an instructor course on March 1st, 2008

-These classes were approved


  1. New Business

Delaina reminded everyone that there has been a new ITLS E-News implemented. Anyone not receiving the e-news is asked to contact Delaina with an updated email address. Delaina also requested articles for the e-news for more substantial content. Anyone interested in writing an article should contact Delaina at dbomhoff@emlrc.org.


There was discussion of changing the Instructor Certification from 2 years to 3 years. Dr. Gianas will research to see if there is any issue with us changing our validation period at the state level.

ITLS of Florida will research further the options of creating bundle courses. ITLS of Florida is interested in partnering with PEPP and/or GEMS to provide this dual courses.
